Dosing Recommendations for Vitamin D
November 14, 2009
I decided to put some information together on dosing for vitamin D. Even if you aren’t all that interested in the details of how vitamin D works, I wanted you to have a quick reference for the amount you should be taking.
Ideally, you should have your blood level of 25(OH)D tested regularly. This level should then be used to determine the amount of supplementation needed to maintain optimal vitamin D status. In the absence of such testing, you should choose a dosage that is great enough to offer protection against chronic disease, while also being safe for virtually all adults.
